On March 4th, the exchange meeting of the 2022 annual report on the NSFC Basic Science Center Project of "Theory and Application of System Engineering for Intelligent Interconnection Systems" was held in our school. Zhang Hongwen, the Standing Committee member of Anhui Provincial Party Committee and vice governor of Anhui Province, Ding Lieyun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the Management Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and Yu Qijun, secretary of the Party Committee of Hefei University of Technology, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
More than 40 leaders and experts attended the meeting, including Wu Jinsong, Secretary of the Party Group of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Liu Zuoyi, Deputy Director of the Management Science Department of NSFC, Huo Hong, Director of the First Division of the Management Science Department of NSFC, Li Jiangtao, Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Department of NSFC, He Yi, Director of the Mobile Project of NSFC, Professor Huang Haijun from Beihang University, Professor Gao Ziyou from Beijing Jiaotong University, Professor Wang Fan from Sun Yat-sen University, Professor Huang Lihua from Fudan University, Professor Hu Xiangpei from Dalian University of Technology, Professor Liang Zhe from Tongji University, Professor Wang Hongwei from Huazhong University of Science & Technology, Chen Gang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hefei University of Technology, Professor Liang Liang, the Basic Science Center Project leader and team member, Academician Yang Shanlin, Academician Tang Guangfu, Professor Zheng Li, Professor Wang Meng, etc. Liu Zuoyi presided over the opening ceremony of the meeting.
Ding Lieyun pointed out in his speech that the National Basic Science Center was an important component of the national strategic scientific and technological strength, and also an important measure to accelerate the construction of a world science and technology power and achieve national scientific and technological self-reliance. He hoped that participating experts would conduct in-depth discussions on how to rely on the Basic Science Center to carry out organized research and better build it. Zhang Hongwen expressed gratitude to the experts for their long-term care and support for the basic scientific research work in Anhui Province, and gave a detailed introduction to the "336614" overall layout in Anhui Province for building a strong science and technology province and strengthening basic scientific research. Yu Qijun introduced the history and achievements of Hefei University of Technology in recent years. He stated that the university would fully support the construction of the Basic Science Center, strive to produce high-level innovative achievements, and make greater contributions to scientific and technological innovation in China and Anhui Province.
In the progress report section of the meeting, Professor Liang Liang, the Basic Science Center Project leader, introduced the overall progress of the project and the next-phase work plan. Academician Yang Shanlin, Professor Zheng Li, and Professor Wang Meng respectively reported on the phased achievements. Professor Zhang Qiang, Professor Hu Xiaoxuan, and Professor Jiang Cuiqing, on behalf of the project team, respectively presented progress reports on the academic highland, talent highland, and think tank highland. Academician Tang Guangfu gave a special report on the research task of the Basic Science Center. After the report meeting, the attending experts conducted on-site review and gave guidance on the relevant labs of the Basic Science Center.
On the basis of listening to the project team's report, inspecting the center’s labs, and conducting in-depth discussions, the attending experts fully affirmed the progress made by the project, and carried out organized scientific research focusing on further meeting the major strategic needs of the country, and "System Engineering for Intelligent Interconnection Systems", refining key scientific issues, and conducting collaborative research around common basic issues, in order to provide opinions and suggestions on achieving greater breakthroughs in building the center into an academic highland, talent highland and think tank highland.
The NSFC Basic Science Center Project of "Theory and Application of System Engineering for Intelligent Interconnection Systems" was officially established in 2021. The project is supported by Hefei University of Technology, and is collaborated with such research institutions as Tsinghua University and the Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute. This project focuses on the new features of intelligent interconnection systems, innovates the theory and methods of intelligent interconnection system engineering, and produces original theoretical achievements with significant international influence. By closely integrating engineering practices in the fields of high-end equipment intelligent manufacturing service systems and energy interconnected systems, it aims to tackle the key core technologies of system engineering. Through several years of construction, the center will be built into an "academic highland, talent highland, and think tank highland", providing high-level technological support for China's economic and social development.
