On May 21, 2022, the First HFUT International Frontier Lecture on Information Systems and Digital Commerce was successfully held. This lecture invited six internationally-renowned scholars in the fields of information systems and digital commerce, including Professor Peng Xiaosong (David) from Lehigh University in the United States, Associate Professor Qiu Liangfei from the University of Florida, Professor Tan Chee-Wee from the Copenhagen Business School, Associate Professor Chen Hailiang from the University of Hong Kong, Associate Professor Peng Chih-Hung from National Chengchi University in Taiwan, and Professor Ke Weiling from Southern University of Science and Technology, to share their cutting-edge research, and discuss the latest opportunities and future development in this field together. Many of them serve as the Department Editor of UTD’sJournal of Operations Management, Senior Editor ofMIS Quarterly, Senior Editor ofProduction and Operations Management, and Associate Editor ofMIS Quarterly. This lecture was organized and chaired by Professor Wei Shaobo from the School of Management of HFUT, and hosted by the School of Management, HFUT. Academician Yang Shanlin and Dean Hu Xiaoxuan were specially invited to deliver speeches at the conference. Considering the requirements for the epidemic prevention and control, it was held in the form of an online conference.
Scholars shared cutting-edge research topics in the field of information systems and digital commerce, including the application and management of blockchain technology, the impact of Uber on public transit system, over-funding in equity crowdfunding, the role of social media in financial markets, the content-context congruence importance in medical question-and-answer sties, and the roles of evaluation mode and construal level in technology adoption. After each sharing, the attending scholars asked questions and exchanged ideas on the topics of interest, and they had a lively discussion on the relevant issues.
This meeting drew attention from domestic and foreign teachers and students from multiple universities, including Tsinghua University, City University of Hong Kong, Copenhagen Business School, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Southeast University, University of Science and Technology of China, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Northwest University of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Dalian University of Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Nankai University, Chongqing University, etc. The cumulative number of online participants exceeded 500, and the response was good.
This international cutting-edge lecture has established a platform for scholars in the fields of information systems and digital commerce to exchange and learn from each other, enabling participants to better understand cutting-edge research issues in their field, as well as the latest theories and research methods, and promoting the collision of ideas and perspectives among scholars.
