On May 31, 2023, the Second HFUT International Frontier Lecture on Information Systems and Digital Commerce was successfully held. The lecture invited six internationally-renowned scholars in the field of information systems and digital commerce, including Professor Chen Jianqing from the University of Texas at Dallas, Professor Liang Huigang from the University of Memphis, Professor Jiang Zhenhui (Jack) from the University of Hong Kong, Professor Sia Choon Ling from City University of Hong Kong, Associate Professor Shang Guangzhi from Florida State University, and Professor Dong Qi (John) from Nanyang Technological University, to share their cutting-edge research, discuss about the latest opportunities and future development in this field together. They all serve as the Department Editor of UTD’s Journal of Operations Management, Senior Editor of MIS Quarterly, Senior Editor of Information System Research, Senior Editor of Production and Operations Management, Associate Editor of MIS Quarterly, and Associate Editor of Information System Research. The online lecture was organized and chaired by Professor Wei Shaobo, and hosted by the School of Management, Hefei University of Technology. President Hu Xiaoxuan was specially invited to deliver a speech at the lecture.

The scholars shared with cutting-edge research topics in the field of information systems and digital commerce, including sponsored tasks and solver participation in crowdsourcing contests, how mergers and acquisitions increase data breaches, the impact of mobile touch modes on users’ self-regulation, website localization strategies to promote global e-commerce, budget disclosure in crowdfunding: information asymmetry and cost transparency, and the collective use of customer data platform for value co-creation. After each sharing, the attending scholars asked questions and exchanged ideas on the topics of interest, and they had a lively discussion on the relevant issues.

The lecture drew attention from teachers and students of various higher education institutions at home and abroad, including Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Technology, Southeast University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology of China, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Renmin University of China, Northwest University of Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Tianjin University, Sun Yat-sen University, Hong Kong Baptist University, etc. Moreover, it was attended by a cumulative number of over 300 online participants with good response.
The lecture has established a platform for scholars to exchange and learn from each other in the field of information systems and digital commerce, enabling participants to better understand cutting-edge research issues, as well as the latest theories and research methods in the field, and promoting the collision of ideas and perspectives among scholars.
