On the afternoon of January 10th, Wang Cuifeng, Vice Governor of Anhui Provincial Government, visited Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) for a special investigation on deepening the "Double First-Class" construction work, accompanied by Zuo Jun, Deputy Secretary General of Anhui Provincial Government, Zhao Zhenhua, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Education Working Committee and Director of the Provincial Department of Education, Yang Shanlin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and Chen Gang, Deputy Secretary of the HFUT CPC Committee.
Wang Cuifeng and her delegation first visited the Research Center of Engineering Management and Intelligent Manufacturing, carefully watching promotional videos for various modules of the labs, including "Guiding Ideology", "Nobel Prize", "Super Engineering", and "World First-Class University", and listening to Academician Yang Shanlin's introduction on cultivating high-level innovative talents and building a "Double First-Class" university. Wang Cuifeng praised the strong cultural atmosphere in the labs. She pointed out that the construction of "Double First-Class" universities were the vanguard of higher education. Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) should fully implement the Party's educational policy, cherish "the top priorities of the country", adhere to the "Four Orientations", and focus on cultivating more contemporary new talents who are fully developed in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor, and worthy of the task of national rejuvenation.
At the Satellite Intelligent Operation and Control Management Lab and the Lab of Collaborative Optimization and Intelligent Decision for UAV Formation, Wang Cuifeng carefully listened to the team's latest research achievements in improving the operational efficiency of satellite systems and organizing large-scale unmanned aerial vehicle formations. She highly praised the fruitful achievements of the research team and encouraged them to continue to focus on the international technological frontier and major national needs, and continuously make new breakthroughs in climbing the technological peak.
In the Medical Robot Lab, the Intelligent Medical Health Management Lab, the Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Management Lab, and other labs, Wang Cuifeng and her delegation visited relevant equipment systems on site and carefully listened to the introduction and achievement report of each lab. Wang Cuifeng asked the lab researchers about the principle of relevant technology research and development and application in detail, and highly recognized the positive role of HFUT’s scientific research achievements in combating the COVID-19.
In the investigation, Wang Cuifeng fully affirmed the fruitful achievements made by HFUT in the "Double First-Class" construction, as well as in scientific and technological innovation, achievement transformation and application. She pointed out that HFUT fully implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, conscientiously studied and implemented the series of important speeches and instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping to Anhui, adhered to the characteristics of engineering education, faced the main battlefield of the economy, conducted organized and useful scientific research, and made important contributions to national construction and Anhui's economic and social development. As a national "Double First-Class" construction university directly administrated by the Ministry of Education, HFUT should further take root in the Jianghuai area, actively connect with major national strategic needs and local economic development actual needs, continue to provide important talent and technical support for scientific and technological innovation in Anhui Province, and make new and greater contributions to the comprehensive construction of a socialist modernized country and the beautiful Anhui with 5 development focus.
