Successful Conclusion of the 3rd International Frontier Lectures on Information Systems and Digital Commerce at Hefei University of Technology

On May 21, 2024, the 3rd International Frontier Lectures on Information Systems and Digital Commerce was successfully held at Hefei University of Technology. Six internationally renowned scholars in the field of information systems and digital commerce were invited to this seminar, which include Professor Han Zhang from Georgia Institute of Technology, Professor Heshan Sun from the University of Oklahoma, Professor Daniel Q. Chen from Baylor University, Professor Christy M. K. Cheung from Hong Kong Baptist University, Professor Yulin Fang from the University of Hong Kong, and Associate Professor Chuan Hoo Tan from the National University of Singapore. They shared their cutting-edge research and discussed the latest opportunities and future developments in the field. All invited experts are or have served as senior editors for the UTD journal MIS Quarterly, senior editors for Information Systems Research, associate editors for Journal of Operations Management, and associate editors for Information Systems Research. The seminar  was jointly hosted by the School of Management at Hefei University of Technology and the “Future Scientists” International Academic Forum for Graduate Students in the field of Management Science and Engineering. The event was organized and chaired by Professor Wei Shaobo from the School of Management, with an opening speech delivered by Dean Zhang Qiang.

The participating scholars presented on various topics, including when and why customer service chatbots provide alternative answers that can enhance or detract from the customer service experience, the dual-sided impact of generative AI on creativity, how CIO political skill influences organizational agility, how technostressors influence job and family satisfaction, how collaboration technology use affects IT project team creativity, and how the complex hierarchy in team consultations on digital platforms affects the consultation opinions of team doctors. They engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions with attendees on issues of interest.

Six Experts Present Keynote Lectures

This seminar attracted attention from faculty and students at numerous domestic and international institutions, including Texas Tech University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Tongji University, Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology of China, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Renmin University of China, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Tianjin University, Sun Yat-sen University, Fudan University, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Deakin University in Australia, with over 400 participants attending online.

The seminar provided a platform for scholars in the field of information systems and digital commerce to exchange ideas and learn from one another, enhancing participants' understanding of cutting-edge research issues in the discipline, as well as the latest theories and research methodologies, fostering the collision of thoughts and perspectives among scholars in the field of information systems and digital commerce.
