Teachers and Students from the School of Management Went to Wuhu to Conduct a Special Investigation on "Construction of the Big Data Management and Application Major"
On July 10th, Tang Yunshu, the Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department of Public Management, and 8 other teachers, along with 60 students majoring in Big Data Management and Application from Grade 2020 and Grade 2021, went to Wuhu to focus on investigating the construction achievements of the “Dongshuxisuan”( "Channeling Computing Resources from the East to the West" ) Wuhu Computing Hub, and the talent development strategy of Wuhu City, providing development ideas for the construction of professional disciplines. Sun Bin, Deputy Secretary General of the Wuhu Municipal Government, personally attended the scene and gave a keynote speech. Weng Ming, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Wuhu Data Resources Management Bureau, and other relevant officials warmly received and participated throughout the entire process.
On the morning of that day, led by Miao Zhenying, the head of the Data Resources Management Bureau of Wuhu City, the delegation from the School of Management first visited the China Digital Islands Project of the "Dongshuxisuan" Wuhu Computing Hub, to understand the investment and construction situation of Huawei Cloud, the three major telecommunications operators, Sugon Information Industry Co., Ltd., Cloud Times Information Technology Co.,Ltd. and other enterprises involved in the project. Subsequently, they visited the "Liangwei" (“For Citizens and Enterprises”) Service Center in Jiangbei Concentration Zone of Wuhu City to gain a detailed understanding of the important role of digital government construction in promoting interactive cooperation among the government, enterprises, and citizens. Finally, they visited the Data and Application Center of the High-resolution Earth Observation System in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, to comprehensively understand the specific applications and important achievements of high-resolution spatial information in natural resources, agriculture, housing and construction, water conservancy and transportation, emergency and disaster reduction, and other fields.
In the afternoon, the delegation from the School of Management arrived at the Urban Operation Management Center of Wuhu City, and listened to relevant special reports from the Wuhu Data Resources Management Bureau on the online supermarket with preferential policies for enterprises, from the Wuhu Development and Reform Commission on the Smart Yangtze River Comprehensive Management Platform, and from the Wuhu Talent Development Group on the Ziyunying Talent Plan. Subsequently, Associate Professor Zhu Junhong from the Department of Public Management gave an introduction and report on the overall development of the School of Management, the construction of the Big Data Management and Application major, and the building of "Data Science and Smart Social Governance", the Philosophy and Social Sciences Laboratory of the Ministry of Education. Sun Bin, Deputy Secretary General of Wuhu Municipal Government, gave a wonderful theme report on "Accelerating the Construction of Wuhu Computing Hub, and Creating Strategic Links and Central Nodes for a New Development Pattern" to the faculty and students of the School of Management. As one of the eight computing hubs of the "Dongshuxisuan" Project, Wuhu Computing Hub will play an important strategic role in promoting the innovative development of the computing power industry ecosystem in the Yangtze River Delta region, and promoting new driving forces for digital economy development through transformation.
The special investigation activity on "Construction of the Big Data Management and Application Major" is an important part of the theme education carried out by the Department of Public Management, and also a working measure to promote the discipline construction of the School of Management. It is a positive attempt to explore the education-government-enterprise communication mode. Through this investigation activity, the teachers and students not only have gained an overview of the construction of Wuhu Computing Hub, the practical application of big data science, and the cutting-edge trends in the development of public management disciplines, but also enhanced their understanding of China's development strategy for regional coordination, the driving mechanism for digital economy development, and the basic connotation of governance capability modernization. It also plays a positive role in promoting the discipline construction work and broadening the construction ideas for the School of Management.
