In the golden autumn season, the vibrant campus has ushered in another welcoming season for freshmen. From August 26th to 29th, the 2021 undergraduate enrollment of the School of Management of Hefei University of Technology was grandly held on the Tunxi Road campus. After the college entrance examination, 320 freshmen were enrolled in our school, full of expectations, turning over a new leaf in their lives.
1. Welcome freshmen to register
At 8:00 a.m. on August 26th, under the guidance of the staff, freshmen of Grade 2021 wore masks at an interval of more than 1 meter, orderly passed through the university gate and entered the special channel for freshmen to check in. After completing the check of the return code, health QR code, travel card, hand cleaning, changing masks, measuring body temperature, luggage disinfection and sterilization and other processes, they went to the school's welcoming office and check-in point to formally handle the registration procedures and receive the freshmen gift package with the help from volunteers .
2. Teacher-Student Meeting
At 2:30 pm on August 27th, the 2021 teacher-student meeting was grandly held at the Hubing Auditorium. The School's party and administration leaders, department heads, counselors and teachers, as well as 320 undergraduate freshmen of Grade 2021, jointly participated.
Professor Hu Xiaoxuan, the Dean of the School, warmly welcomed the freshmen on behalf of all the faculty and staff of the School. He briefly introduced the development process and basic overview of the School, and provided a detailed introduction to the overall situation of the School from the following aspects: mission & vision, disciplinary construction, faculty & staff, talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services. He encouraged the students to actively explore and continuously improve themselves.
Professor Zhou Kaile, a teacher representative, shared his insights and experiences with all the freshmen from three aspects: "patriotism, aspiration, and firm faith", "increasing talent and striving for youth", and "seeking truth, being realistic, and integrating knowledge and action".
Wan Qianyi from Class 21-2 of Information Management and Information Systems, the student representative, showcased the vibrant spirit of the freshmen from their impressions of HFUT, learning at present, and looking forward to the future.
Guo Zhiyong, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, delivered a speech encouraging freshmen to work hard, strive for progress, think actively, and contribute their efforts to the social development in the new era.
3.Major Briefing
At 4 pm on August 27th, freshmen majoring in Information Management and Information Systems, E-Business and E-Commerce, Big Data Management and Application, and Business Administration held separate meetings with teachers from various departments in the First, Second and Third Lecture Halls of the School of Management, and Hubing Auditorium. The teachers gave a detailed introduction to the discipline construction, curriculum system, semester planning, and career development of their majors, and had face-to-face talk on topics that students were concerned about, such as major advantages, postgraduate recommendation, further education, and employment, and patiently and meticulously answered the questions raised by the students.
4.Laboratory Visit
At 8:30 am on August 29th, all 2021 freshmen participated in the "Learning, Thinking, and Action" Visit to the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of Process Optimization and Intelligent Decision-making. The postgraduate students of each lab introduced the lab's research direction, important topics, and the latest research achievements to the freshmen in details, and patiently answered the questions raised by the freshmen about the lab and their own professional development direction.
5.Visiting the University History Museum
At 11:00 am on August 29th, more than 50 freshmen representatives from various classes visited the University History Museum on Tunxi Road campus in an orderly manner guided carefully by Chen Shengzhang from the Care Work Committee and Zhang Yujia, the interpreter of the University History Museum. Visiting the six exhibition halls, including career startups, key leaps, reform progress, innovative development, fruitful achievements, and alumni representatives, the students learned HFUT's historical evolution, discipline construction, team building, talent cultivation, and scientific research, and experienced its history of more than 70 years and the ever-changing prospects for development.
Fight in the new era, and shine in the new youth. The 2021 undergraduate enrollment came to a successful conclusion in a grand and enthusiastic atmosphere. Students shared their excitement on QQ space and WeChat Moments, hoping that they would use their youth, passion, wisdom, and sweat to showcase the "vitality" and "struggle" in pursuing their dreams, and paint a vibrant and beautiful picture of the School of Management.
