On the morning of August 10, the 1st International Young Scholars Forum of the School of Management kicked off in the second conference hall of the Engineering Management and Intelligent Manufacturing Research Center. The forum, themed “Intellects Gathering at HFUT: Creating the Future,” attracted nearly 50 young scholars from domestic and oversea universities, which include the University of Manchester, the University of Munich, the University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, and Peking University. Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Yang Shanlin, Deputy Secretary of HFUT CPC Committee Yan Fuping, HFUT Principal Assistant Liu Xinbao, and Deputy Director of HFUT High-level Talent Office of Personnel Department Zhang Yi, along with the entire leadership team and several professors of the School, attended the forum. The opening ceremony was hosted by Dean Zhang Qiang of the School of Management.

Yan Fuping welcomed and expressed thanks to the excellent young scholars for their participation on behalf of the university in his speech. He indicated that the university thoroughly implements the strategic deployment of the central government regarding talent work and vigorously carries out the strategy of“strengthening HFUT through talents”, always considering the first-class faculty as the most core, critical, and valuable strategic resource in building a “Double First-Class” university. He highlighted various measures taken to continuously enhance faculty development. Yan offered a detailed introduction to the university's academic research environment and talent service system, and extended a sincere invitation to the scholars present, hoping that more outstanding young talents from home and abroad would join the university.
Academician Yang Shanlin delivered a presentation titled “Our School” to introduce the school's key research directions and a series of research achievements in various fields, which include“Optimizing Decision Theory and Intelligent Science and Technology”, “Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Management for High-end Equipment”, “Satellite and Drone Formation Management”, “Medical Networking and Intelligent Medical Robots”, and “Smart Energy and Environmental Management”. He emphasized that both national development and the school’s development require elites; the development of elites requires national support and platforms backing. The school will provide a quality development platform and an excellent academic environment, sincerely inviting young talents from home and abroad to serve national strategic needs and realize their life ideals together.
Zhang Yi elaborated on the school’s talent-attracting mechanism, talent cultivation measures, talent-supporting environment, and deep appreciation for talent, revolving around aspects like disciplinary platforms, job benefits, developmental training, and service guarantees. Vice Dean Li Xiaojian and representative young faculty member Professor Chai Yidong also shared their research experience and insights at the forum.

The young scholars visited various laboratories of the school. After the lab tour, five sub-forums were held based on the young scholars' disciplinary backgrounds and research directions. During the sub-forums, the young scholars sequentially presented academic reports, totaling 45 sessions. The on-site academic atmosphere was vibrant, with lively discussions as attending professors and scholars exchanged academic views, shared research experience, and sparked ideas.

On August 11, the school held a seminar on talent recruitment and introduction, in which Dean Zhang Qiang, Professor Wang Gang, Professor Pei Jun, and Professor Zhou Kaile delivered reports introducing the overall situation of the school as well as their respective research directions and achievements, interacted with young scholars face to face and answered their questions, fully demonstrating the school’s sincere commitment to “building a nest to attract phoenixes.”
In this feast of wisdom and creativity, the 1st International Young Scholars Forum of the School of Management not only established a bridge for communication but also ignited a torch of innovation. The participation of every young scholar is an exploration and commitment to the infinite possibilities of the future. In the future, the School of Management will continue to uphold an open and inclusive attitude, collaborating with more outstanding young talents to create a wise future, allowing the theme “Intellects Gathering at HFUT: Creating the Future” to shine even brighter in every exchange and collaboration.
