报告题目PARTICIPATION OF DISTRIBUTED ENERGY RESOURCES IN THE ENERGY MARKET

报告时间2020年10月21日(星期三)19:00-21:00

报告平台ZOOM会议ID: 459 176 6628

报告简介

The radical changes that the electricity systems undergo due to environmental concerns and technological developments inevitably formulate new conditions for all actors in the electricity market: new market roles for existing actors as well as new actors with roles yet to be defined. One of the most important drivers of today’s energy transition is the rapid increase in the penetration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) comprising mainly distributed generators and flexible demand. The way DER will participate in the energy markets is of outmost important, since this will critically affect the on-going decentralization of the energy system.

In this lecture three fundamental models for DER integration in the market procedures are presented: centralized management, decentralized management through set-points and decentralized management through price signals. The models are formulated as optimization programming problems solved using commercially available software. Their evaluation is based on the study of several cost scenarios and their impact on significant indices that reveal the effect of the different market design to its participants.

报告题目SECURITY CONCERNS IN ISLANDS WITH HIGH RENEWABLES PENETRATION

报告时间2020年10月23日(星期五)19:00-21:00

报告平台ZOOM会议ID: 459 176 6628

报告简介

Isolated power systems operating in non-interconnected islands face several economic problems for the satisfaction of their demand. Moreover, they are often characterized by rich renewable sources potential that makes the installation of RES attractive. The installation of Wind Turbines, Photovoltaics and batteries can achieve high levels of penetration exceeding 50%. The operation of island systems with high RES penetration however, causes security concerns, especially regarding frequency control and protection. These concerns are due to the limited inertia in the system and the relatively small short-circuit currents provided by the Power Electronic interfaced Renewables. This webinar will provide an overview of the main characteristics of non-interconnected islands with real data from the Greek islands and will how potential frequency stability and short-circuit protection problems. Practical solutions and practical applications will be discussed.
