In converter-dominated grids, Grid-Forming inverters must restrict current to protect their semiconductors. Yet the moment a GFM inverter enters its current-limiting mode, the synchronising power-angle loop operates with limited active-power information. This weakens its damping torque, shrinks its transient-stability margin, and lengthens the fault ride-through (FRT) period—especially in weak or faulted networks. This talk explores three complementary control strategies that recover stability and FRT capability.

报告人简介

Jae-Jung Jung received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea, in 2011, 2013, and 2017, respectively. From 2017 to 2019, he was a senior engineer with Samsung Electronics, South Korea. Since 2019, he has been a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Kyungpook National University in Daegu, South Korea, where he is currently working as an associate professor. His current research interests include the grid-connected power electronics, the control of electric machines, and power system dynamics.
