On October 29th, while all teachers and students from Hefei University of Technology were carefully studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Executive Council Conference of 2022 for the Engineering Colleges and Universities Branch of the Accounting Society of China, hosted by the Accounting Society of China and organized by Hefei University of Technology (HFUT), was successfully held online. The conference invited renowned accounting scholars and the Executive Council members, including Professor Wang Huacheng from Renmin University of China, Professor Qu Xiaohui from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Professor Yang Youhong from Beijing Technology and Business University, Professor Xia Lijun from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Chen Jun from Zhejiang University, Professor Zhang Junrui from Xi'an Jiao Tong University, and Professor Zhu Hongjun from Anhui University of Finance & Economics, to gather online to discuss the hot topics of accounting research and the issues of professional construction in the digital intelligence era.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, Dean Hu Xiaoxuan of the School of Management, HFUT, introduced the persons present at the main venue. Chen Gang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of HFUT, warmly congratulated the opening of this conference on behalf of the university. He introduced the development history and educational characteristics of HFUT, and especially the School of Management, which, led by Academician Yang Shanlin, the discipline construction leader, targeted at the major strategic needs of the country, carried out basic theoretical research and key technology research, and achieved fruitful results in discipline construction. He also wished the Executive Council Conference a complete success.
Subsequently, Liu Guoqiang, Director of the Editorial Department ofAccounting Researchof the Accounting Society of China, and Zhang Chuan, President of the Engineering Colleges and Universities Branch, delivered speeches on behalf of the Accounting Society of China and the Branch of Engineering Colleges and Universities. They welcomed the arrival of experts and scholars, expressed gratitude for the support of Hefei University of Technology, and wished the Executive Council Conference a smooth progress.
The conference officially began at 9:00 am, and Professor Wang Huacheng from Renmin University of China shared “Some Thoughts on the Construction of First-Class Majors of Finance and Accounting”. He proposed suggestions for the construction of first-class majors of finance and accounting in the era of digital intelligence from several aspects such as the university's mission, educational characteristics, and ideological and political education in curriculum. Professor Qu Xiaohui from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) gave a report on "Development and Decision-making Considerations of Enterprise Reports", proposing that in the context of rapid changes in the political and economic environment, the limitations of financial reports themselves and the development of the digital economy require expanding the scope of enterprise financial reports and improving them towards sustainable development information disclosure. In addition, Professor Yang Youhong from Beijing Technology and Business University gave a report on “The Economic Nature of R & D and Innovation in Financial Management”; Professor Xia Lijun from Shanghai Jiao Tong University gave a report on "The Objectives and Positioning of the Capital Market"; Professor Chen Jun from Zhejiang University gave a report on “The Exploration and Practice of Building an Intelligent Financial Education Ecosystem”; Professor Zhang Junrui from Xi'an Jiaotong University gave a report on "Research on Digital Economy, Data Assets, and Accounting"; Professor Zhu Hongjun from Anhui University of Finance & Economics delivered a report on "New Era, New Management, and New Accounting".
Professor Jiang Cuiqing, Director of the Accounting Department of the School of Management at Hefei University of Technology, reported on the laboratory construction work of the School, which took its advantage in information technology, at the conference.
Big data, digital economy, and new business have brought great opportunities to the construction of accounting majors in engineering colleges and universities. In the afternoon, the executive directors held a heated discussion on how to use the engineering background to strengthen the construction of accounting disciplines, carry out laboratory platform sharing with unique characteristics of engineering colleges and universities, and refine the Branch’s organizational systems.
Finally, Professor Zhao Huifang, Honorary President of the Engineering Colleges and Universities Branch of the Accounting Society of China, summarized the conference. The successful opening of the Executive Council Conference provided valuable experience for accounting majors in engineering colleges and universities to carry out accounting talent cultivation and disciplinary construction when confronted with the changes of the times. She also wished the 2022 Annual Meeting of the Engineering Colleges and Universities Branch of the Accounting Society of China would be successfully opened at Southeast University.
