Contact map of protein plays an extremely important role in the study of protein structures. Combinatorially, protein contact maps can be seen as generalization of RNA secondary structures. However, counting protein contact maps is much more difficult than that of RNA secondary structures due to the significant higher vertex degree. In this talk, we will formulate the study of protein contact maps in the framework of combinatorics, like what has been done in the field of RNA secondary structures, and introduce previous and future works of the Nankai Research Group of Combinatorics and Computational Biology.

报告人简介：

郭强辉，2009年博士毕业于南开大学组合数学中心，现为南开大学数学科学学院副教授，曾任天津市数学会第十三届理事会理事。主要研究方向是组合数学与计算生物学，近年来在运用组合方法研究蛋白质接触图结构方面做出了一系列成果，推广了计算生物学奠基人Waterman教授关于RNA二级结构的经典计数工作，部分解决了计算生物学家Istrail教授提出的关于蛋白质接触图计数的公开问题。相关10余篇论文发表在《Advances in Applied Mathematics》《Journal of Computational Biology》《Bulletin of Mathematical Biology》等应用数学和计算生物学领域重要杂志。主持国家自然科学基金1项，教育部产学合作协同育人项目1项，南开大学研究生课程思政示范课项目1项。主编教材5部，拥有发明专利2项，软件著作权4项。曾获南开大学优秀硕士学位论文指导教师及南开大学研究生教学成果特等奖。
