报告简介

Hybrid inorganic nanostructures have shown new functions and properties in sensing, catalysis and reconfiguration. Although various combinations between core and shell materials have been explored, further effort and time are necessary to seek for advanced structural control from the molecular level to the nanoscale, leading to synergistic effects from materials hybridization. We demonstrate nanoscale control in surface modification of anisotropic metal nanoparticle cores with soft polymer shells as well as hard inorganic shells, and their new properties and functions are explored in refractive index, shape reconfigurability and surface-enhanced Raman sensing. In addition, porous template-confined chemical transformation of the gold core can be controlled through core etching and regrowth processes, and such core shape transformation mechanism is understood via quantitative analysis on the core geometry and curvature. Our study will help find a rational design rule of core-shell hybrid nanomaterials for desired applications.

报告人简介

Dr. Kim Juyeong is an Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Gyeongsang National University. He received his master degree from Sungkyunkwan University, and received his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University and got postdoctorate training at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2015- 2018). His research interests focus on the design of organic-inorganic hybrid materials which could be applied in catalysis, biosensor, energy storage, and so on. The unique techniques of combined electron microscopy have been developed to quantify selfassembly dynamics, nanoparticle growth and etching behavior, and function-morphology relationships. His work has been published in many top journals, including Nature Communication, Energy & Environmental Science, ACS Nano, Nano Letters and Journal of Materials Chemistry A.
